                                                NICKEL & DIME PRODUCTIONS PRESENT
                                                                Perilous Island
A story by Dave Phipps at Pulp Alley

                                                        Chapter 8 The Jungle Trail
As they pushed further in to the jungle following the trail the light started to fade until it was nothing more then a twilight, up ahead they noticed one of the natives who quickly disappeared into the undergrowth.
The natives are the plot points for this scenario, you start with two on the table & as one is completed  he's replaced with another, the experience reward card is the major plot point but is only added to the deck after two plots have been completed.
The Germans have picked up the same trail a little further on.
`What do you think the natives want Delbert ? ` asks Grace `It's like their playing some kind of game with us, `I've no idea he replies but it doesn't look as if they mean us any harm.
The Germans try encircling one of the natives, to get hold of him & try to find out what they want.
The BB's spotting them spread out, watched by another of the natives.
End of turn one, its that long since I played this game out I'm just going to post it from the story end of things, as while I take a few notes while playing there wouldn't be enough so sorry about that & I hope it doesn't take from your enjoyment, needless to say a full refund will be give if it does :)
Gloup is the first to reach the young warrior,`What is your game? he asks point his gun at the man.
Gloup is knocked from his feet by the brave but some of the others are quick to react & Muller lets off a blast from his flamer in an attempt to intimidate him.
Grace has come to the attention of the other brave & he gentle prods at her with his spear, before telling her `Follow the trail to the gate to find the one you look for, but beware the mighty warrior that stands before it` & then vanishes into the jungle.
Another of the young warriors emerges from the foliage.
Collins spots a German head & fires but takes a wound from the returning fire.
The sound of gunfire is ringing though the jungle now as Dowl fires at Muller, but get more then he bargained for & takes a hit for his troubles.
The end of turn two & the BB's have a plot point.
Grace hangs back as the rest of the BB's take some cover.
Muller rushes Dowl &
sends him flying.
Fritz get into a fire fight with Collins but
comes off the worse of it.
Hess is trying to get hold of native but he proves difficult to get a grip on, Hess pulls out his gun & everything changes `On down the trail you must go` he tells Hess before running off.
Helga in no mood for playing games points her gun at another young warrior,Stay put if you know whats good for you` she orders him.
Gloup takes out Moore as Grace gets talking to another of the natives, they seem to have a liking for her.
End of turn three, BB's 2 PP's Germans 1PP, Dowl Moore & Fritz out of the game.
Muller fires &
Brown, taking out Grace.
Gloup try's to get the drop on Collins
but Collins is not a man to be trifled with.
End of turn five & Collins is on his own with the BB'after losing their two PP's while the Germans have picked up another & now have two PP's
Collins puts Gloup down again with a quick right to the face, before whipping out his six shooter & dropping both Brown & Muller, but has been hurt in return.
He then heads over to Hess
Collins`The gate is just ahead Captain Hess & if the notes I have are to believed the only way we're going to get it open is to work together, so what do you say to us putting our differences to one side & working together ?
Hess I've seen that thing that guards the gate & I agree it would be wise for now.
Cut,
Designers note, that brings the second act of the campaign to a close with the Germans finishing it with a win of 2 PP's to 0 PP's, over all I think over the first 2 acts the campaign has been even enough & enjoyable with all of the games presenting different challenges.

That's it for this post, as always my thanks for dropping & if you'd care to be a movie critic & leave a comment it would be welcomed :)

That's

  1. Frank you can't leave it there, we want to know what's guarding the gate.
Another exciting tale with an even bigger cliff hanger than usual.
The jungle patches look good but can you tell me what the long grass is? Doesn't look like teddy bear fur but it does look effective.
I suppose having watched the whole film it's too late to ask for my money back? ;-)

    1. Thanks John, & your wrong I can & did leave it just there :)
The long grass from a gaming point was dangerous terrain but I don't think that's what your asking, I don't know what its called but I got it in a model railway shop, it comes little sheet that you can cut up, I'd think most model railways shops would have it.

Your right looking for a refund after watching the whole movie is like looking for your money back after drinking a whole point a none-runner ;)

    2. Cheers mate, I'll have a look for the grass, I've seen the short grass a bit like a cricket pitch but never anything longer. It does look effective.

I'm very disappointed in your blatant commercialism having cliff hangers like this means you will have a steady stream of paying customers turning up week after week just to see how the story ends. ;-) :-)
      Humm - good idea.

    1. Thanks Fitz, glad to see your still watching after the move :)
Your dead right about the German's but they are the bad guys after all, I think.

  3. Hmmm working with the enemy after they've taken out nearly all your guys... that's some swift turn-about; I did think Grace was going to be the saviour of the scenario, but to no avail with the dastardly hun picking on a woman!
Great looking set-up and I'd like to know how you put it together -
Cloth mat? Sand track? (and the 'clumps' of grass look great)

    1. Thanks Joe, not ideal but needs to be done, yep Grace was playing a blinder but the hun put an end to it.

For the table I put somethings under the mat to crate contours, then a little sand for the trail & the clumps of grass is a little mat that you could pick up in most model railways shops & just cut it into different shapes.

I've often though about doing a little post of how I go about setting up my table & where you can pick up some of the things I use, anyway I hope that answered you questions mate :)
