                                               NICKEL & DIME PRODUCTIONS PRESENT
                                                                 Perilous Island
A story by Dave Phipps at Pulp Alley

                                                                       Chapter 11 Escape
With the island seemly blowing its self apart everyone headed for the coast in the hope of finding some boats belonging to the natives, there hopes were not in vain.
But escape will be far from easy as something seem to be in the water.
Collins"Quickly now run to the boats" Grace" I don't like the look of that thing swimming off the coast"
Helga"Look boats we can get off the island before its to late"
As Collins jumps into one of the boats Hess shoots at the terror blocking their escape,
feeling something hit it the thing notices Collins & swims rapidly over & attacks him, as his friends look on helplessly. Collins" Get to the other boats & get the hell off the island.
As Collins grapples with the huge snake everyone stands their ground momentarily frozen.
Collins"Didn't you hear me ?" Snapping out of it they start getting into the boats, no one shoots for fear of hitting Collins.
Moore & Dowl are the first ones to push out to see, but the Germans are shooting at Grace & Harriet, Dowl grabs up his rifle to give them whats for
but is hit by return fire.
Hess, Gloup & Helga are in one of the boats but Fritz slips as he tries to get into the other one.
Grace shoots Gloup & he tumbles out of the boat.
Collins is trying to break free of the snake but for something so big its lightning fast & he can't get free of it.
Dowl gets back to his feet,
as Helga & Hess push off, Helga" What about Gloup" Hess" Leave him he can get in another boat"
Fritz is back on his feet & in the boat &
is soon joined by Muller & Brown.
Dowl covers Grace & Herriet as they take to the sea.
The snake gets the better of Collins &
now heads for the boat with Moore & Dowl in it, smashing at it.
Dowl swings round & shoots the snake at point blank range wounding it
but it lashes out again at the little boat knocking Dowl from his feet as the boat rocks under the blow. The Germans can only look on as the boat comes apart
The Germans can only look on as the boat comes apart,
sending Moore & Dowl into the water.
The two man are left to their faith,
 as the Germans sail away.
Moore & Dowl start swimming back for the beach,
but the snake is after them like a flash,
& quickly gets the better of Moore, seen his friend go under Dowl fires at it & it lets out a yell of pain.
Taking his chance Dowl runs through the surf to another boat to try make good his escape,
but the wound has had little effect on the thing & it launches an attack on the boat trying to get at Dowl.
After just seen how fast the last boat came apart Dowl jumps from this one runs up the beach a bit before turning again firing at snake, which with most of its body still in the water strikes at him.
Fearing their is no way out for him Dowl runs from the beach to get away from the monstrosity,
but the ground around him start to erupt sending rocks & trees hurling into the air, the last thing Dowl felt was a sharp pain in the side of his head.
Looking back from the boats the survivors watch in horror as the island vanished under a raging forming sea.
Harriet turned to Grace crying & said "What a terrible misadventure this has been, first my Father & now your friends are gone"
Grace" I'm very sorry about your Father Grace Lord Forbes was a great man, but worry not for my friends, like bad pennies they have away of turning up.
Harriet thought this a very strange thing to say after what had just happened but didn't reply, just then they herd something banging on the side of their boat & reaching over Grace lifted a large piece of wood from the water that had some strange writhing on it that she couldn't understand.
Collins"Take it easy Jim everything is ok"
Dowl"Jesus Del are we dead ? I don't reckon were still on that island as I don't see the sea & the sky looks very strange & whats Herr Gerry doing with you ?"
Collins" No I don't think were dead Jim but where the hell we are or how we got here I've no idea, but look there seem to be some kind of structure in the distance, maybe we'll find some answers over there.
To be continued ?

Designer notes, Wow my first campaign to finish & I've got to say that I've really enjoyed it but, well there always has to be a but right :) while a campaign is great fun to do it can require a lot of work to do, which of coarse is good looking back I don't think I'd start another one until I'd all the work done for it as I feel the waiting for me at least between one chapter & the next while you get stuff done can take from the enjoyment of things.

I'll try to do a in dept look at a campaign at some point but for now I hope you guys have enjoyed following it as much as I've enjoyed playing it out :).

Well that's it for this post, my thanks to Dave https://store.pulpalley.com/  for the script & as always to you guys for dropping in & if you'd care to be a movie critic your comment would be welcomed. :)

  1. Well, that was an interesting turn of events and a real cliffhanger at the end!

The location looks great. Kudos to props, casting and scriptwriters, too. And to Max Rolf and the camera crew.

There is something to be said for getting everything ready before embarking on a campaign, but at the same time that can mean a lot of time spent upfront before shooting can get started. That's kind of where I am with my projects; props department, scenery department, et al., are keeping busy. Meanwhile the camera crew sits idle. ha ha

    1. Thanks Fitz, that's very kind of you :)

Oddly enough I'd my doubts about this scenario as I always felt that the one before it was the real climax of the story but it turned out to be an excellent ending to the campaign & very enjoyable to play out.

Yes its a case of a rock & a hard place, do you wait to get everything ready first doing all work & no play or do you get some of the stuff done & play it out then wait for more stuff to be ready to keep going ?

As it was my first time doing a full campaign I've only seen it from one side so I could be wrong in my thoughts on that, plus do I really want to be paying out wages to people who aren't doing any work for months ? ;)

  2. Wow! and Wow! again.
What a climatis ending to this adventure, with not a moments grace to get one's beath, it was a hectic ride and a greay read. Wo won/ Who cares, it was a very exciting campaign and yes, well worth all the effort the crew put in to completing this epic.

  3. Hi Frank maybe that could have gone better for Moore and Doud, but it sounds like you've got something up your sleeve. After all the work you put into those boats, for one of them to come apart so easily is nothing short of Jerry building, you need to have strong words there.
The snake looked great, chewing everyone up, all in all another top story from the script writer, the actors did a tremendous job and Max Rolf kept the directing very tight, well done.

The jungle looks great, that is the look I'm aiming for with mine, I'll be pleased if I can achieve it and the errupting columns at the end are genius.

    1. Thanks John, I did leave it a bit open ended didn't I ? :) but tbh I think that adventure will be on hold for awhile as their are other types of movie's I want to make :)

I think given the size of the snake the boat coming apart has to be excepted & added greatly to the drama, but I'll pass on your criticism to the props team ;)

Yes I know your looking to build some jungle terrain for when Becky gets to India ;) & as the prop team are still work on jungle terrain I'll ask them if we could do a shoot of them building it but after I pass on your criticism I can't promise anything, but maybe you calling them geniuses right at the end might get you in their good books lol

  4. Congrats on a successful finish to the campaign Frank! And very nice touch leaving an opening for a continuation 😃
Now that we've completed the "movie", let's talk about deleted scenes - was there anything you wanted to do that you weren't able to throughout the production?

    1. Thanks Ivor, leaving it open is clear to anyone who knows all the facts, wow we have a mystery on our hands for those that want to go figure it out :)

That my friend is a most excellent question, looking at Dave script which is the Perilous Island campaign I wanted to see how it would work being play solo, so to that end I played it out as per the book & have to say it work very well.

Was I happy with the production over all ? no, but that is mainly down to budget & time, as in yes the sets & the props could be better, I'm sure the dialogue could be improved on & a hundred other things as well.

I'llfinish up Ivor by saying that going down the route I've taking hobby wise, which to some might fell very strange has to me been like a breath of fresh air, I found my own little niche in this great hobby of ours in N&D Productions & am only just getting started :)

  5. Brilliant finale to the series Frank - bravo to the Nickel & Dime crew!
The "teaser" hook at the end gives nothing away other than the promise of 'more to come' :-)

Personally I think you did the right thing by making a start BEFORE "finishing" all the props - getting things moving is a great motivator, and constructing sets 'to order' removes the temptation to 'make things fit' and allows the story to develop freely.
Yes it's a pain and can cause delays, but (from experience) I still reckon it's the best way to go ;-)

Thoroughly enjoyed it, and can't wait to see what you've got in store for us next! :-)

    1. Thanks Greg, Fitz in his comment above made the same point as he's doing it the other way, I also like your point on how it helps to let thing happen more freely & have to admit that I hadn't though on that point.

For the hook see my reply above to Ivor :)

Glad you enjoyed it mate :)
